Full Name: KKS Lech Poznań Official Website: lechpoznan.pl Lech Poznań is a Polish football club based in Poznań. The club is named after Lech, the legendary founder of Poland. This name was adopted in 1957 and, though it has become the name by which the club is typically known, was actually only its eighth.The name changes came rapidly but from 1933 onwards tended to be a variation of Kolejowy Klub Sportowy - Railway Sports Club. The club have been associated with the trains ever since and one of their nicknames - Kolejorz - means Railwaymen in the local dialect. Their nickname Pyry is also local dialect, in this case Potatoes as the inhabitants of Poznań and the potato in general is a symbol of Poznań. Lech originates from the established in 1922 Lutnia Poznań, which since then has changed its name several times. Lutnia means "lute" in Polish and, besides being an instrument was a popular type of choral group in Poland at the time, though its social importance seemed to have gone far beyond singing.
