KKS Lech Poznań symbol, Piotr Reiss was detained by police yesterday morning in suspicion of corruption charges.

Legend behind bars
One of the most well known and famous players in the Polish Ekstraklasa has been recently arrested by police because of his connection with Polish football corruption. The former Hertha Berlin player was transported to Southern Wroclaw, where he is to hear the allegations placed against him. Wroclaw police have also arrested former Lech official, Przemyslaw E. who is linked with Reiss' case. Unofficially reported by TVP, the corruption case is related to a June 2004 match, where Lech Poznan defeated Gornik Polkowice 2:0.

Peruvian back-up
Now down a striker, Lech boss Franz Smuda has called Peru national team coach Jose del Solar on the subject of Hernan Rengifo. The Peruvian has recently received a call-up from his national team to play against the United States and Paraguay. However, Lech in need of strikers has instead ensured Rengifo's stay in Poland for the UEFA Cup match against Udinese Calcio. "I talked to del Solar about the possibility of Rengifo staying with Lech instead of playing for his country. He understood our situation, and we have both agreed Rengifo will be staying with us to train." said Smuda.
