ZABKI, Poland. June 01 (PS) — Gornik Zabrze returns to the Polish top flight after a year break from the Ekstraklasa.

Wednesday's match in the 33rd round of the Liga 1. ended as Gornik defeated Dolcan Zabki 1-0.

The only goal was scored in the 78th minute by Polish national team striker Tomasz Zahorski. With the victory Gornik - last year's dropout of the league - secured second place in the league, and a promotion bonus.

Meanwhile, the third in the league table Sandecja Nowy Sacz won 1:0 away with GKS Katowice.

A few weeks ago Widzew Lodz officially secured top position in the league and promotion. In the penultimate round the Lodz club unexpectedly lost in Pruszkow 0:1 after a goal by... Widzew former player Marcin Rackiewicz.

The match in Pruszkow did not matter for either teams. Znicz Pruszkow (in the autumn lost away to Widzew 0:7) was already demoted to the second division.

Previously, the same fate was sealed for both Motor Lublin and Stal Stalowa Wola. After Tuesday's round, Wisla Plock also found themselves in a difficult situation (now in fourth last place), who in a very important match at home lost to MKS Kluczbork 0:4.

In nine matches in the 33rd round of the Liga 1. 15 goals were scored. The referees showed 22 yellow cards.
