Płock to host Ekstraklasa Superpuchar

PLOCK, Poland. June 30 (PS) — The Ekstraklasa Superpuchar match will be held in Plock, Poland

Ekstraklasa SA have also announced that the match would be held on August 1.

Jagiellonia Bialystok's opponent (winner of the Polski Puchar) will be champion of the Polish Ekstraklasa - KKS Lech Poznan.

The starting time for the match has not yet been given.

Surrounding the decision to choose the host stadium broke out with plenty of confusion and controversy.

Lech declared it's candidacy to play the Superpuchar (Supercup) match in Poznan, but Jagiellonia refused. The Eastern club was even reportedly threatened that they would be kicked off and Lech would win by walkover.

Fortunately, it was than decided to play for the Superpuchar at Wisla Plock's stadium, the Kazimierz Gorski Stadium.

Ekstraklasa SA (organizer of Poland's Premier League) has been organizing the Ekstraklasa Superpuchar since 2006. In accordance with the rules of games in the annual match, it involves the current Polish Champion and the winner of the Polish Cup.

The meeting is traditionally held a week before the start of the new season Ekstraklasa season.
