LODZ, Poland. July 22 (PS) — After days of negotiations, LKS Lodz finally has a new co-owner.

The man who has made a name for himself in professional basketball has signed up as the joint owner of the Liga 1 club.

Marcin Gortat of the NBA Orlando Magic basketball team, has bought half of the Polish football club's shares.

From now on he will also have an impact on the functioning behind the scenes at LKS.

Gortat bought 3.5 million shares from 16.5 Lodz team, thereby ensuring a place in the LKS Business Club.

The oldest club in Lodz will take advantage of it's new co-owners popularity, and secondly most importantly - his financial assistance. The rest of the shares have been offered to nearly 100 operators.

The 26-year-old Orlando Magic power forward first started his football career at LKS Lodz as a goalkeeper. At the age of 17, he switched his focus to basketball, where he quickly became a star on the LKS basketball team. From there he then joined German club Köln 99ers (formely known as RheinEnergie Köln), which helped him make a big move to the United States to play for the Anaheim Arsenal.
