Kaiserslautern seal Świerczok deal

BYTOM, Poland. Jan 3 (PSN) - 1. FC Kaiserslautern have completed the signing of striker Jakub Świerczok from Polish 1 Liga outfit Polonia Bytom.

Jakub SwierczokThe Poland U-20 international, who has scored 10 goals in 19 league appearances this season, has signed a contract which will keep him at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion outfit until the summer of 2014.

Among Kaiserslautern was also Polish top flight Wisła Kraków who also bid for the player. Despite their efforts, the choice was made by Świerczok himself after visiting the German club.

1. FC Kaiserslautern have reportedly paid a transfer fee of €418,000 (£350,000) for Swierczok and they are convinced the 19-year-old has the potential to become a Bundesliga star

"We have scouted Jakub Swierczok very intensively," The club's general manager, Stefan Kuntz, told their official website.

"He is a very talented young player with a sound nose for goals,"

"We are absolutely convinced he has the long-term chance to build himself a career in the Bundesliga."
