Legia - Arsenal, 11 goals rain in Warsaw!

WARSAW, Poland. Aug 07 (PS) — Legia Warsaw FC lost to Arsenal FC 5:6 in a friendly match being the main attraction of the Polish club's opening ceremony of the new Legion stadium.

Three goals for the hosts were scored by the recently called-up Polish international rookie Artur Jedrzejczyk.

Since the beginning of the match it was clear that the attitude shown by Legia that they were not a team afraid to rival Arsenal. The Legion attacked more dangerously than Arsenal and that paid off in the 17th minute after a screamer outside the penalty box from Cabral gave the home side the early lead.

In 33rd minute it was already 2-0. After a dribble by Iwanski in the penalty area, Mezenga knocked the ball before the goal line, where after huge fuss in the English defense found Jedrzejczyk tapping the ball in.

Arsenal did not yet have time to recover after losing the second goal when Jedrzejczyk already scored another goal. This time, the 22-year-old showed off a very strong volley in the penalty box after a delightful pass from Cabral.

In the 38th minute Arsenal responded with Chamakha headering the ball past Legia goalkeeper Antolovic after intervening on Nasri's shot at goal.

In the second half of the guests from London went out on an all attack. First, Eboue sent the ball flying to Legia's goal with Croatian U21 international Antolovic committing a fatal mistake, who miscalculated the flight of the ball and was unable to catch it. The same player scored the goal to make the game 3-3, making use if a one-on-one situation with Antolovic. In another action, after a powerful shot from an Arsenal corner kick had Gibbs header the ball past Antolovic to have the English outfit lead 4-3.

In 73rd minute the Legion came back. After a quick play from Giza to Jedrzejczyk in the penalty box gave the Polish defender a hat-trick. Arsenal responded with a shot from Thomas and the effective free kick by Nasri. In the latter situation due to Antolovic's poor judgment he was substituted with Makhnovskyi, who while had the ball in his hands, was unable to rid of the rebound.

The Legion fought to the end and in the 90th minute of the match scored to make the outcome 5:6 after a determined shot by Maciej Iwanski, who used the confusion in the ranks of Arsenal's defense and scored from close range shot.

"We still have a lot of work to do. I'm disappointment, because I know we had a chances to win this game today. Unfortunately, we made too much individual mistakes Our attack started out well and we should have kept the score 3:0 to the final minute." said Legia boss Maciej Skorza post-game.

"I'm really happy with our finishing, AC Milan only scored once on Arsenal, Celtic twice, but we scored as much as five."

Don't get too excited we still lost. That group of the Polish kids the won the new york city world cup should go to the Ek they would win hands down.
