KIELCE, Poland. Sept 9 (PS) — Pawel Golanski has signed a contract with Korona Kielce.

The 27-year-old defender last played for Romanian club Steaua Bucharest for the last three seasons.
Golanski is a graduate of UKS SMS Lodz.

After playing for LKS Lodz, he had an episode with Legia Warsaw's reserve team. He joined Korona Kielce before the 2005/06 season. A year later he made his debut under Leo Beenhakker on the Polish national team, and in summer 2007, he transferred to Steaua Bucharest.

Beenhakker chose the Polish defender to play at UEFA EURO 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. He played in the matches with Germany and Austria.

As reported by the Kielce club, negotiations with the player were hard, but ultimately successful.

Polonia Warszawa and Wisla Krakow were also keen on signing the free agent. Golanski was close to signing a contract with a club in Krakow, with both parties agreeing on the amount of earnings for the player, but there was no agreement as to the length of the contract.

Wisla wanted to sign a one-year contract, while the Polish international was only interested in a a two-year deal.
