Legia Warsaw snap up Żewłakow

WARSAW, Poland. June 13 (PSN) - Michał Żewłakow has signed with Legia Warsaw FC on Monday.

The former Poland national team captain and defender penned a one-year contract with the capital club.

Żewłakow, who terminated his contract with Turkish side Ankaragucu in January, joins Legia Warsaw who will fight for a spot in the UEFA Europa League starting on July 28th.

An agreement with the club finally came during the second round of negotiations, after the first talk a disagreement arose over finances.

Born in Warszawa, Żewłakow began his professional career with cross-town rival Polonia Warszawa. Despite this, he admits to fulfilling a childhood dream.

"I feel as I have fulfilled a childhood dream by signing with Legia today. I am very happy with this move and want to do my best to help the club's adventure in Europe." says the former Polish representative.

Żewłakow is Legia's first addition of the summer transfer window after the club let go Bruno Mezenga, Felix Ogbuke, and Alejandro Cabral.
