Lech eagerly acquire Tonev

POZNAN, Poland. June 16 (PSN) - KKS Lech Poznań have acquired 21-year-old Bulgarian midfielder Aleksandar Tonev.

Aleksandar TonevOn Thursday, the midfielder and captain of his country's youth team signed a contract in force until June 30 2015.

"I am convinced that the new acquisition will increase the quality of play of our team. But for his performances in Lech should be a great pleasure, but also a challenge," said the club's new General manager Andrzej Dawidziuk.

Pleased with the acquisition of Tonev is also Kolejorz coach Jose Mari Bakero.

"While he may be young he is already a well-formed player. He has all the advantages needed to play at the highest level," he stressed.

The Bulgarian also knows Lech very well from the last edition of the UEFA Europa League.

"I saw some games of this team. I also heard of the fantastic Poznań audience" said Tonev at the press conference in Poznań.

Tonev was born on February  3 1990. From an early age he was associated with CSKA Sofia, where he had his first-team debut in 2008.

In the 2009/2010 season he was loaned to OFK Sliven 2000. In the last season with CSKA Sofia he appeared in the UEFA Europa League group stage and also won the Bulgarian domestic Cup.
