KORAT, Thailand. Jan 20 — Poland won it's first match in Korat against Thailand 3:1 (1:0) in their second appearance in the 40th FAT King's Cup 2010™ tournament.

Polish players now partly made up for their poor effort in Sunday's 1:3 defeat against Denmark in Thailand. On the other hand, a different result other than a victory in the clash with the host nation, who only occupies 105 place in the FIFA ranking, would be rather an unpleasant surprise.

Compared to the match with Denmark there were few changes in the white and red roster. The most important asset to the Poles was KP Polonia Warszawa's Sebastian Przyrowski, who replaced the uncertain Mariusz Pawelek in goal. However, this time Franciszek Smuda could not benefit from using the injured Dawid Nowak (who perhaps will back in action on Saturday's match with Singapore).

For a long part of the first half seemed that there would be no goals scored before the break. The hosts dominated but could not create any dangerous situations for the Poles. By contrast, the white-red only had problems with efficiency. In the fourth minute a few technical tricks were tried by Maciej Rybus, and a half hour later a powerful shot was decided by Tomasz Bandrowski. In both cases, however, the hosts goalkeeper Kawin Thammasatchanon was able to easily maintain both attempts.

In the 43. minute the Poles ended the goal trout, after some great confusion in the host's penalty box zone. Piast Gliwice defender Kamil Glik scored the first goal for Poland after finishing off a free kick by Maciej Rybus.

After the break the dominance of Smuda's team was no longer a subject to discussion. Iwanski and Rybus remained active, who both had also participated at the coming second goal. In the 53. minute a very nice cross from the right wing came from Lukasz Mierzejewski, who launched the ball into the penalty area, where the ball was touched by the two Legionista's. Rybus took a poor shot and accidentally hit it at the feet of Patryk Malecki. The Wisla Krakow striker had no trouble with winning another goal for Poland.

The third goal for the Bialo-czerwoni fell after Marcin Robak came into the action. The Widzew Lodz player was introduced in the 70. minute and the striker clearly revived Poland's team game. Near the end of the match Robak received a clean pass from Rybus and took flat direct shot from about 14 meters which increased his team's lead.

At that time, however, Poland was already playing weaker. In 84. minute Slawomir Peszko saw his second yellow card. The Thai players pressured the Polish defense heavily in the final minutes, where in the 90. minute they were rewarded a penalty. The Tanzanian referee Odana Charles Mbaga found that Ruch Chorzow defender Maciej Sadlok committed a foul in the box and allowed Thailand a penalty kick.

Sebastian Przyrowski successfully defended the shot, but the referee found that the Pole came out too quickly from his goal line, so ordered a replay. Unfortunately,  Przyrowski had no chance on the second penalty shot.

After two matches Smuda's team have three points. Denmark leads the tournament in first place after taking another victory, who on Wednesday defeated Singapore 5-1.

On Saturday, the Poles will play their last match in Thailand - with Singapore.
