KRAKOW, Poland. Sept 7 (PS) — After a thrilling match in Krakow, the Poles lose 1-2 to Australia on Tuesday night.

The bialo-czerwoni were finally able entertain their fans with some quick attacking football, but a major lack of finishing and technique was once again their demise.

The match began with the attack of the Polish team, but the visitors scored the early goal.

In the 14th minute Brett Holman deceived two Polish defenders and shot in a long corner goal defeating Przemyslaw Tyton. The response by the Poles was immediate.

After several minutes of action on the left wing by Sebastian Boenisch, a low ball cross into the box was enough for Robert Lewandowski, taping the ball past the Aussie goal line to level the game to a 1-1 tie.

The Poles were the primary attacking side in this match, playing with flair, however, with either no good, or lack of technique. A lapse in concentration in defense led to Michal Zewlakow clashing with an Australian striker and the referee quickly dictated a penalty kick. It was a very controversial decision of the referee, but Luke Wilkshire had no trouble burying in the goal for the Socceroos to lead 2-1.

In 34 minute Jakub Blaszczykowski won the Poles their own penalty kick, but a weak effort from Robert Lewandowski saw Adam Federici firmly saving the shot.

In the second half of the match Poland was the superior team and created plenty dangerous goal situations, but was surprisingly unable to use any of them. Heavy duty offensive substitutes were soon brought on which included Kamil Grosicki and Ebi Smolarek. Unfortunately, they were no strangers to schoolboy errors and lack of composure as the rest of their team.

In the 71st minute saw a second yellow card of Brett Emerton, seeing the Socceroos. playing the rest of the match with a man down. Poland created chance after chance late in the game but could not find an equalizer against the stout the steady Australian defense.

Despite the clear advantages of Franciszek Smuda's team, it was still not enough to even guarantee a win - let alone a draw.
