KRAKOW, Poland. Sept 8 (PS) — Tenses are rising high within the Polish national team after Tuesday night's defeat against Australia (1:2), with both coaches and players now making up excuses and deciding on who's to blame.
Robert Lewandowski, who wasted a penalty kick to easily put the Poles on level is already the first to be blamed for the loss by his teammates.
"Michal Zewlakow was originally the player designated to take the penalty kick, but he did not stand up when needed. The second was me, but I saw that Robert wanted take the penalty, he was confident he would score." said the Polish national team striker.
On a lighter note, Jelen did, however, praise the constant offensive actions of teammate Boenisch from whose cross helped result in the first goal for Poland.
"Sebastian Boenisch showed a good side of himself, the more that it was his first national team grouping. We needed a left back, and Sebastian is not only good on the defensive, but also moving upfront to the goal. Such a player is what we looking for, it's good that we managed to convince him to play in our team. For sure we will have a lot of benefit from him." Jelen ended.
