WARSAW, Poland. Dec 27 (PSN) — It seems that alcohol or even controversial statements cannot harm Artur Boruc's image to his supporters.

Fans still want to watch the ACF Fiorentina goalkeeper on the kadra - so according to a study by the Pentagon-Research.

The survey was conducted among people who declare an interest in football. In the poll the most votes were won by Jakub Blaszczykowski (20.7%). Boruc with a 11.4% support was in second place.

"Respondents do not get a ready list of names. They were asked to nominate players themselves. In addition Błaszczykowski and Boruc appeared before such names as Lewandowski or Peszko. Interestingly, in a study conducted in June the result of Boruc was weaker. Thus, his popularity is growing." says Michal Gradzik from the Pentagon-Research.

The ACF Fiorentina goalkeeper now cannot rely on a call-up to the Polish national team. Franciszek Smuda fired him from the team after the way back home from a camp in Canada after drinking alcohol. But it is not a foregone conclusion that Boruc will not play at the UEFA EURO 2012.

"People like vivid characters with character. And that is what Boruc precisely is," says Piotr Pietrzak of the leading sports marketing agency, Havas Sports & Entertainment.

In the near future, the former Celtic FC goalkeeper would nevertheless not receive a call-up due to injury. But what if he were to heal it?

"Who knows, never say never. We do not know how to roll the fate of a player and coach," believes PZPN president Grzegorz Lato.

Far from being a 'character' to me he is a disruptive influence on the team and I would NOT have him anywhere near the kadra! Smuda was right to axe him. The problem of course now is that without Boruc the goalkeeping scenario looks frightening.
