WARSAW, Poland. Sep 1 (PSN) - Damien Perquis already has Polish citizenship and has joined in the training camp with the national team.
He will not play against Mexico on Friday, but will be taken into account in determining the first eleven for the match with Germany next week.
Coach Franciszek Smuda waited for Perquis for several months. The Polish coach now hopes that the 27-year-old will solve the biggest problem of the kadra - defense. At this time, Smuda's only other central defender is Głowacki.
Perquis' great-grandfather was born in the southern Polish town of Strzyżewk. He emigrated to France in the years 1920-1930.
Damien is currently 27 years old, was born in Troyes, and plays his club football in Sochaux, the fifth team French league.
For the Polish national team he arrived a few days ago, on Wednesday he ate breakfast with the kadra who started preparing for the friendlies with Mexico (Friday) and Germany (Tuesday).
