WARSAW, Poland. Nov 9 (PSN) - On Tuesday afternoon at the Municipal Stadium in Wroclaw was the presentation of the new kits in which the Polish national team will play in UEFA EURO 2012.
The kits for the white-red were prepared by technical sponsor Nike.
Heated debates among fans were caused due to the lack of the Polish white eagle emblem on the shirt. Instead, the PZPN logo appears over the chest of the players. It turns out that the decision for this was the Polish Football Association's.
"We're a technical sponsor of the team, and our main priority is technology. The point is that the shirt was the lightest and most technically advanced. The process of its creation takes about eighteen months," says Maciej Lasoń.
"Our actions are based on tests and in any case, that is, not only in the Polish case, it is always a joint process. This means that the decision of what to cut and color the shirts in each country are taken together with the local federation. However, the decision as to what logos are printed on the shirt, that is always only the decision of the football federation. This happens with all federations, with whom we work. So it was the case with the Polish Football Association," Lasoń explains.
According to PZPN spokeswoman, the decision to replace the white eagle crest with the PZPN logo was made from a business view.
"The white eagle is a national symbol, so we cannot copyright it and anyone can use it. This is why we put our own logo on the shirts, so only our players and us are allowed to use it." said the spokeswoman.
Poland will play in the new kits starting in the upcoming friendly against Italy on November 11.
