GLASGOW, Scotland. Mar 6 (PS) — Celtic FC is in financial trouble, and as Scottish media reports Artur Boruc may be able to save it.

However, to do this he may be forced to leave the club.

The problem this time is not against lost goals, but of the club's debt that has piled up. Celtic's poor performance in the last two seasons has cost the Scots dearly.

Celtic is now losing against rival club Rangers FC regularly in the league, and is neither impressing in European competitions.

Therefore, the proceeds to fund the club have become much smaller than expected. The club authorities are now considering the sale of one of their leading players - including Artur Boruc.

Boruc's contract expires next year, but the club wants to invite the player to discuss a new contract agreement.

Will Boruc go on sale the club? Celtic officially declared that they will do anything to stop "one of the best goalkeeper in the history of the club" from leaving. But according to unofficial information, it is reported that a Pole in the summer will leave for to the English Premier League.

The Pole has also been linked with a summer move to HSV Hamburg.

im from scotland and i personally think celtic need to keep him and sell the rest. i.e boruc;s gettin payed £30,000 a week dont sell him 2 save £30,000 sell paddy mcourt, koki muzuno and all the rest who sit the earning 10/15000 pounds a week and not getting there game. theres about 10 of them earning that money and not getting there game so that right there would save £50000 + .

It does seem plausible that with the news of Scotland losing their extra Champions' League spot the second-placed team stands to miss out on a lot of financial clout. With Celtic now having a two-digit deficit in the League to Rangers it's hard to see them overcoming it. The disappointing thing is that Boruc has looked in some ways like being back to his best. One thing's for certain, Celtic have displayed more responsibility than Liverpool, who recently tied their first-choice goalkeeper and another player to long-term, big-money deals despite looking very likely to miss out on the Champions' League!

I think a move to Germany would do Boruc a world of good. He'd be closer to home and would be whipped into shape by some tough coaches. I can't really think of any Premier League club who'd be interested in him now.

Its about time, he needs a new challenge, and Celtic are just awful now. Also gives a chance for Zaluska, Celtic made some dumb decisions with transfers and are now paying for it.
