LONDON, England. Apr 26 (PS) — The Last 12 months have not been too successful for Lukasz Fabianski and his fight for the number one shirt at Arsenal FC.
Several catastrophic mishaps led to the fact that Arsenal fans are now demanding to sign a new goalkeeper at the Emirates Stadium.
'Fabian's nightmare began a year ago, when he collapsed the final match against Chelsea in the FA Cup. The same story repeated itself two more times - in the UEFA Champions League with FC Porto and the league meeting with Wigan Athletic. Not surprisingly, fans of Arsenal and British journalists have begun to verbally hang him for this.
"Everyone has the right to express their opinions. I'm not stupid and I know that such incidents people will remember. Do I have a problem with that? No!" Fabianski admitted in an interview with Arsenal TV.
According to the Polish goalkeeper these errors would be considerably less if he played regularly.
"This season for me is incredibly heavy. I only play from time to time, which does not help my life at Arsenal. But such is the life of a keeper. Some love it, some hate it. I can only accept it." he added.
Despite pressure from supporters Arsene Wenger is still putting faith in 'Fabian'. The Polish international after a poor showing against Wigan, defended again in the last league match against Manchester City FC. The first time this season, he kept a clean sheet.
"It’s been frustrating for me, but I’m happy the boss still believes in me and is giving me a chance to prove myself. I just want to take those chances and show I’m good enough for Arsenal."
"It was good to finally keep a clean sheet against Man City, that was my first this season."
"I don’t know if it was a good point, we all wanted to win the game. I think at the end of the day we are all slightly disappointed just with a draw."
"We were expecting that they would not play with two strikers. Usually they push forward a lot but maybe they were happy with a draw today."
'Fabian,' This season has played eight matches in the colors of the Gunners. After two in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.
