SEVASTOPOL, Ukraine. July 27 (PS) — After nine years of playing in FC Shakhtar Donetsk Mariusz Lewandowski has finally changed clubs.
The 67-capped Polish representative has signed a three-year contract with the Ukrainian Premier League outfit - PFC Sevastopol.
The 31-year-old joins PFC Sevastopol, who after three rounds of the new season has gained five points and occupies the sixth place in the league.
"I left Shakhtar because I still want to play football. PFC is a mid-table team in the Ukraine League, but intends to build a good team. When I in 2001 came to Donetsk, no one there probably never dreamed that it would reach such a success. I was not afraid to go to Shakhtar, then came other players. Now look at Shakhtar today." Lewandowski told Sport.
"It's the same now, once again I will undertake a challenge. PFC is a young team, I want to give them my experience and skills. Together with me, along with my Shakhtar teammate Igor Duljaj we can accomplish something here."
The Polish midfielder was previously linked with a move to English Premiership side Wigan Athletic, however, has chose to stay and possibly end his career in Ukraine.
