LODZ, Poland. Aug 16 (PS) — Defender Pawel Golanski continues to look for the club, despite nearing a contract deal with FC Tom Tomsk.

After parting ways from Steaua Bucharest this summer, the Pole is still unemployed.

The 27-year-old trains every day with Liga 1 side LKS Lodz, but does not intend to return to the Ekstraklasa after experiencing success abroad. At least not yet.

After rejecting several offers from Russia, the player may try his hand in Italy.

The transfer to FC Tom Tomsk was almost a foregone conclusion. The player arrived in Russia and was near to sign a 2.5-year contract with the club.

However, problems arose when the finalized agreement proposed by the Russians did not go towards to liking of the Pole. It was that which made him reject the contract, and of course news from his agent of clubs from Italy interested in him.

"I was close to moving to Tomsk, but a lot happened before I was able to sign anything. FC Tom made some modifications to our agreement which I was not happy with, so I decided on what I should do." says Golanski.

"My agent soon called me and asked me if I wanted to play in Italy. Of course, anyone would pick sunny Italy over cold Siberia any day." he adds.

At the moment there is nothing concrete from Italy, but negotiations with several clubs from the Serie A and B are currently in place.

If nothing comes out of this the Pole can still count on interest from German side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Greek outfit OFI Crete, who have sent official offers to Golanski's agent.

Again, if that does not pan out, as a last resort, Golanski may return to the Ekstraklasa. He admits he would be happy to play in either in the ranks of Korona Kielce or Legia Warsaw FC.
