POZNAN, Poland. Aug 26 (PS) — KKS Lech Poznan will play in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League.

In the second match of the play-offs against FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk the Polish champion was able to secure qualification with a goalless draw at home.

The match was not full of goal opportunities for either side, and was mostly a power struggle for both teams in the middle of the pitch.

Luckily, an away goal was enough to put Lech through and progress on a 1-0 aggregate.

The main reason for the poor play of both teams was the turf, which in Poznan is not currently up to high standards. Neither team could carry out long, accurate passes or peacefully finish off a shot at goal.

In the first half the most dangerous goal situation was created by Lech in the 19th minute but the shot of Jacek Kielb at goal flew just above the crossbar.

Dnipro attacked more dangerously in the second half of the match, where the Ukraine outfit tried to force several free kicks around the penalty box of Lech Poznan and create an opportunity to score.

A good change in the ranks of Lech in the second half was Artur Wichniarek, who substituted the unproductive Tshibamba. The former Polish international was able to hold onto the ball upfront several times to give his teammates in defense a breather from the constant Dnipro pressure.

Both teams were able to create their best goal situations in the 90th minute of the game. First was Krivets who had a delightful opportunity at goal, but his shot was blocked with ease. Meanwhile, Rotan struck hard from behind the penalty box but Lech goalkeeper Jasmin Burić responded with a quick save.

Lech drew with Dnipro 0-0 at home and will play in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League.

The draw for the group stages will take place on Friday in Monaco.
